Can I order a book directly from you?
Sure can. Just email me pfkeheff@gmail. We can then work on the details such as would you like me to add a drawing and personalize the book etc.
Will you illustrate my book?
Sorry, no can do. I just don't have enough time to finish my own work.
How long does it take you to write and illustrate a book?
Not long as I work fairly fast...about 5 months. My illustrations are done quickly, and I suppose rather simply especially when I see what other illustrators are doing with Procreate. My illustrations, however, seem to suit my style of writing and personality.
How do you illustrate your books?
They are all done digitally on an iPad Pro using a programme called Procreate.
Why did you self-publish your books?
I tried really, really hard to go down the traditional publishing route, but it was just so difficult to find an agent who liked my work. Traditional publishing also takes so long to produce a book. I don't have a lot of time left so decided to use Kindle Direct Publishing. I had to do a lot of research, trial and error and listen to friend's advice.
Could you come and give a talk at my school or local library?
Sure, I would love to. I really enjoy speaking to groups and even full stadiums. We may have to work out something for my expenses if I have to travel far. Then again, a good cup of tea and a gingernut biscuit might just cement the visit.
Who are your favourite illustrators and writers of children's books?
I am a huge fan of anything and everything Quentin Blake does. He is my number one guy. Brilliant. Roald Dahl of course. Shaun Tan, Rob Scotton, Guillermo Mordillo, Jean Jacques Loup and Alan Snow to name but a few... lots more, like Michael Bedard's duck art and ...
Do you send your books overseas?
No, because the delivery cost is too high. It would be best if you buy Mr Heff books from Amazon.com or UK or au

I was born in Sandringham, Auckland, New Zealand on the 25 th September 1944. Meteorites flashed across the sky, volcanoes erupted and people ran screaming into the streets.
I had a great childhood, walking to Wesley Primary just down the road and playing in the bush across from our house on the corner of O'Donnell Avenue and Sandringham Road Extension.
